Betting Tips: UEFA Champions League – Matchday 4 – Wednesday – 11/5/2014

Manchester City v. CSKA Moscow
Pick: Manchester City -1.5 at -135 (5Dimes)

Manchester City are traditionally strong at home, and have regained confidence from the victory over their cross-city rivals this weekend. CSKA have a poor away record in the CL, having won only one of their last nine on the road. City beat the Russians 5-2 at home exactly one year ago to the day. This is a great opportunity for them to get their first CL win this term, and move into second place in the group, as Munich will most likely beat Roma at home. Goal differential could come into play, and given that they allowed the Russians to come back from two goals down last time out, they will not get complacent and allow for it to happen again today. City wins big.

Shakhtar Donetsk v. BATE Borisov
Pick: Shakhtar Donetsk -1.5, -2 at -105 (5Dimes)

Shakhtar most likely won’t win by seven goals again, but I think they are very capable of winning by at least three at home. BATE will certainly play more conservative on the road and look to create chances on the counter, but the flood gates should open once Shakhtar scores the first goal. Shakhtar is far superior to BATE, and their Brazilians will again prove too much for the visitors.

Athletic Bilbao v. FC Porto
Pick: FC Porto pk -109 (5Dimes)

This will be an open game, as Bilbao must go for the win – and this will give Porto chances off the break. Porto are a very dangerous team on the counter. Bilbao will have difficulty scoring, as their main threat Aduriz is doubtful with a hamstring injury. Porto are the better quality team, and I don’t see them losing tonight.
